We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Compliance Officer with a strong background in transaction monitoring and financial crime to join our dynamic team. In this critical role, you will work closely with the Compliance Manager and Chief Risk Officer (CRO) to ensure the company adheres to regulatory requirements and contribute to a strong compliance culture
You’ll play a key role in helping effectively and efficiently prevent, detect, investigate and respond to financial crimes as delegated, this includes anti-money laundering (AML) and counter-terrorism financing (CTF), Due Diligence, Know Your Customer (KYC) and Sanctions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transaction Monitoring & Investigations: Oversee transaction monitoring systems, investigate suspicious activities, and report findings to senior compliance personnel.
- Financial Crime Compliance: Identify, assess, and mitigate financial crime risks, ensuring compliance with AML/CTF laws and regulatory obligations.
- SMR/STR Reporting: Prepare, escalate, and file Suspicious Matter Reports (SMRs) and Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) with regulatory authorities as needed.
- Policy Development & Updates: Maintain and enhance AML/CTF policies, procedures, and internal controls to align with evolving regulatory requirements.
- Compliance Training: Develop and deliver financial crime compliance training to employees, fostering awareness of AML risks and reporting obligations.
- Audit & Assurance: Assist in compliance audits, regulatory inspections, and risk assessments to ensure robust financial crime controls.
- KYC & Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD): Support Know Your Customer (KYC) and EDD processes for high-risk clients.
- Regulatory Compliance: Conduct internal reviews to ensure compliance with Australian and Singaporean financial regulations and company policies.
- Strategic Initiatives: Collaborate with the Compliance Manager and CRO on projects to enhance the company’s compliance framework and mitigate financial crime risks.
About You:
To be successful in this role, you should demonstrate:
- Strong understanding of AML/CTF regulations, transaction monitoring, and financial crime risks.
- Experience with suspicious transaction monitoring, fraud detection, and financial crime investigations.
- Ability to interpret and apply regulatory requirements in a fast-paced financial environment.
- Strong analytical skills with experience handling compliance audits, reporting, or investigations.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking capabilities to develop practical compliance solutions.
- High ethical standards and integrity, with a commitment to upholding compliance best practices.
- Strong communication skills to engage effectively with internal teams, regulators, and stakeholders.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, managing multiple priorities efficiently.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
- University degree in finance, law, compliance, or a related discipline.
- Industry certification in AML/Compliance/Risk Management (e.g., ACAMS, ICA, or similar) are highly desirable.
- Experience with or exposure to licensing requirements, including AFSL (Australian Financial Services Licence), would be highly desirable.
- 2+ years of experience in financial services, banking, fintech, or cryptocurrency, with a strong focus on compliance.
- Familiarity with cryptocurrency regulations, blockchain technology, and digital assets is preferred.
